The Nursing Workforce Report was my first project after joining the communications team at The University of Kansas Medical Center. This project was commissioned by the Nursing Workforce Center, an organization established in 2023 in conjunction with the School of Nursing. The center works collaboratively with employers, schools, professional associations and government to strengthen the nursing workforce in Kansas.
Working with center directors, data scientists and nursing educators, I created this 76-page report containing charts and infographics describing the state of the nursing profession in Kansas. While other states have been producing similar reports for years, this piece is the first of it's kind for the state of Kansas.
In the summer of 2025, I created Volume 2 of the Nursing Workforce Report. This time the data focused on the history of nursing in Kansas, comparing information over ten years—2015 to 2025. The publication is planned as a biennial piece going forward.
